A chatelaine or equipage is used to keep small things right at hand - and to show them off if they are precious too.

Keys, pinballs, scissors, a watch, a needlecase or thimble, small notebooks, pens ... the list of what was kept on their chains is nearly endless.

A small clip is firmly soldered to the back to fasten it on a waisband, belt or apron ties without damaging the fabric.
